Home made Stirling engines

Have a look at the engine designed by my brother Arill.  Made in non-magnetic, stainless steel this machine is a master job! Arill also designed and made the model for the Bolt hologram. His engine runs up to 300 RPM on hot coffee. An ever lasting toy, designed to run for centuries. His engine is using 4 ball bearings and runs incredibly smooth.

Stirling engines are fascinating to watch. I made the engine below, using  my lathe and various tools. The material is brass and stainless steel. This sweet engine runs more than one hour at 100 - 250 rpm on a hot cup of coffee. The heat chamber is 70mm OD, power stroke is 8mm, displacer stroke 5mm. I used four ball bearings.

Thanks to many telephone calls to my brother Arill, I managed to complete this engine during summer 2000.
