Making the Owl master

This beatiful cat owl belongs to my brother Bjørnar. It's about 38 centimeter tall and looks great!. In March 2003 I started to make the transmission master. Pictures only - Enjoy.

Her you can see the owl, standing in front of the master 30x40 centimeter film holder. The reference 50x50 centimeter mirror throws the reference beam down at the film holder at 45 degrees. The overspill from the reference beam provides background illumination.
The H1 film holder is covered with a white sheet for evaluation of a uniform illumination. To the left of the owl is a diffuser, to the right a spatial filer with a cylindrical lens in order to not vase object illumination.

Closeup of right object illuminator with lens to shape the light suitable for the owl.
Behind the H1 film holder is a 50/50 beam splitter dividing the beam between the diffusor and spatial filter object illumination.

Just downstream of the laser the object illumination is tapped of. The rest of the beam is directed up to the reference mirror...

..as you can see in this picture.

The setup seen from "behind", through the refrence mirror holder. Left and right you can see the illumination holders.
